The Bay Horse  built in 1894 and situated on Marygate, an oasis of quiet in Yorkshires capital city. With near neighbours of the Museum Gardens and the River Ouse you are truly in the centre of York. The pub is a pleasant 10 minute stroll from the station, we have ample pay and display parking to the rear and on street shorter term parking to the front.

We have the perfect venue for your party, wedding, business meeting or private dining experience in the Marygate function room on the first floor. It has the benefit of being private, its own washroom facilities and can be decorated to your taste. It can seat up to to 60 diners and is a very atmospheric room.

If you like small and friendly, this is it. Only four rooms but they are spacious airy and very clean. It is on a quiet street with parking in the car park at the rear, (another bonus).Will be back when we next go to York.

The York Mystery Plays 2016 - 26 May – 30 June 2016

Once again York is to stage the Mystery plays for which it is world famous. The word 'mystery' means 'trade' or 'craft' in Medieval  English. 'Mystery' is also a religious truth or rite.
